Part sixty two

Last of the Blueberry Red Bull
Twenty four cans consumed already (I did give a couple away). I thought about importing some “V” energy drink from Australia, but shipping is too expensive.
After trying the regular Red Bull and the new “Kickstart” energy drink (not sure which company makes that), I’ve decided to kick the energy drink habit (yet again). I’ll be drinking cola in the meantime as to not go ‘cold turkey’.

Kagoshima
It’s been a while since I was in this city, so it was nice to be back. I was here for a couple of days camping, trying out my new tent.
As the campground was pretty close to the base of Mt Kaimon, I decided to hike on up.
The weather was pretty cloudy, so no view of the city below unfortunately.
According to the sign below, this is what you can see on a clear day.
Unlike my normal hikes, this was a little differen’t. The weather was nice and warm at the bottom so I started off wearing a T-shirt with my UniQlo Block Tech hooded jacket wrapped around my waist and my brown rain jacket in my utility belt in case it rained.
I hiked at a faster pace than usual, not sure why really, maybe it was the warm weather. However as I got higher up I began to sweat a little. So wasn’t long before my shirt became soaked. I decided to take it off and continue up.
I passed a few people going up and a few descending as well. It was worth it to see the brief initial shock on their faces as a long bearded, shirtless, cowboy hat wearing man went by.
At the top there were a couple of people relaxing, eating lunch, and talking. What they weren’t doing was looking around at the view (there wasn’t any).
I didn’t stay long. Just enough to take a couple of photos before heading back down.
On the way down I ended up going faster where I could. Sone parts, such as climbing rocks and ropes, slowed me down. I think it took me thirty minutes longer to hike up than to hike down. Which I was pretty happy with.
I only carried one small bottle of water with me, and was nursing it on the way down. I should have carried two bottles (probably due to the heat and pace I was going).
Today i hiked over seven kilometres in just over three and a half hours. Which is a pretty good pace I reckon.

Miyazaki
Another campground, this time in Miyazaki. It was next to the beach, but unfortunately the weather was rather windy.
I only did a small walk along the beach, which consisted of a little sandy area and then rocks on either side.
While jumping from rock to rock, I saw lots of little bugs scurrying out of sight. Generally they are a black colour, but these were all green. Probably a different type. I also came across a crab (which I nearly put my hand on as I nearly missed spotting it). It was kind enough to pose for me.
I came across a cave, but the tide was coming in so I couldn’t reach it without getting wet. As I couldn’t progress any further, I turned around and headed back.
As you can see, not much of a walk, but every step is worth it. And it was two fun hours of exploring.
